Jenmar Team Takes First Place in Triathlon - Monday 6th of November 2006

Jenmar International athletes swam, biked, and ran away with first place in the relay division of the 8th Annual Boca Bop Triathlon sponsored by the Optimist Club of Englewood. The event, held in Boca Grande, FL on Gasparilla Island, consisted of a 1/4 mile swim, a 13 mile bike and 3.1 mile run.

The team, coached by the veteran triathlete Luis Ortega, consisted of Jenmar’s General Manager Andy Stark, Client Service Technician Mark Purick, and guest Rich Jolley. Andy Stark posted a swim time of 8:13 which was the 15th fastest time out of 117 participants. Mark Purick’s bike time of 55:21 moved the team past other relay participants and Rich’s 27:50 run sealed the victory for Jenmar’s first ever triathlon relay team.

The swim portion of the event took place in the waters of the Gulf of Mexico where windy conditions and a brisk current created a challenging course for swimmers to navigate. The bike course took riders from one end of Gasparilla Island to the other past historic lighthouses and spectacular ocean views. Finally, the run featured a mix of harbor views and tree-lined lanes.
